You are being such a pain today… I have things to do… Please calm down!
Also, please stop eating literally every piece of junk or bug on the ground. It’s totally nasty and I don’t want to get anywhere near your face.

Hi, I read your post about Gizmo peeing in her crate and her pen...watch out for blood in her urine. My Corgi just had to be taken to the vet for a urinary tract infection because he was doing the same thing and had blood in his urine. It's not too expensive to get the medication but it can be damaging to their kidneys if it's not looked at, so you may want to have her checked out just in case. :-/ With any luck it's not and it's just a puppy thing, but better safe than sorry I guess. Hopefully Gizmo feels better!
Thanks! If she keeps it up I’m totally calling the vet! There hasn’t been any blood that I’ve noticed at all, so I’m feeling pretty confident she’s just being a stubborn little brat :P
Peeing in your crate
is SO not cool.
Gizmo had peed in her crate when I got up at 5am because I heard her whine. This is pretty much normal time.
Then she’d done it again around 10am… she seemed to whine AFTER she did it.
Then at like 3 she peed in her PEN… just looked right at me and peed. Didn’t whine, or do anything to indicate she needed to go out.
3 times today! THREE. WHY!?
She’s been doing so well!
When I had her OUT of the pen and crate earlier after her bath, she even ran to the door when she had to go!
Hopefully she doesn’t have a bladder infection or something… if she keeps it up I suppose I’ll be calling le vet.

That's not gonna fly.....
Today is a bit of a weird potty day, in that up until a few hours ago, it’s been storming NON STOP. Gizmo is scared of the storms, as I expected she would be. On top of that, our yard is flooded. So she can’t go out as usual… Normally she goes in the back yard, and the water would be up to her chest probably (commence stubby legs jokes).
Well……. This morning (aka dark30) she pottied in the garage because it was storm-city out there… Not ideal, but better than in the house, and she figured it out right away.
Well I brought her outside just a few minutes ago… the rain has stopped, but it’s still floody. There are a few places in the front yard that aren’t so bad, so I took her out there. She took off running. Like light speed across the yard. Through the puddles and mud, and ran straight to the front door and started scratching to go in. Umm, weird, since she hasn’t been in the front yard in over a week. I take her back to the regular grass, and she bolts off again like 3 more times. One of those times she eventually goes potty, but then runs off into a neighbor’s yard. She’s doing it on purpose, because it’s when I call to her and walk towards her that she takes off.
I finally manage to grab her, and get her into the garage, hoping she’ll finish her business on the puppy pad I dragged in there. I shut the garage door, and she starts running around again. Hiding under EVERYTHING. The car, the tool chest, the welder… Running FROM ME. I’m a generally calm person, so I’m not yelling at her or freaking out… but she is just straight up running around so I can’t catch her.

That’s not going to be ok under any circumstances… I’ve gotten some great insight on the nipping and barking crap, but this… this I can’t find anything on. Why would she just take off like that?
Gah… This is the pits today… somebody halp, I can’t deal with that… I’m 16 weeks pregnant and can’t go around sprinting and tackling this little dog who seems to be running away just for fun :(
Struggle
Yesterday was a serious power struggle…
She is seriously not responding to any sort of punishment. After reading a bunch, everywhere says to say stuff like “no chew” or “don’t bite” or whatever. That does not work. Not even kind of! Once you say it, she stops, then defiantly goes right back to doing it… sometimes if you tell her no, she’ll lunge at your face!
Now, I *know* she understands what “NO” means… she somehow managed to grab a bottle cap, and we yelled “NO” at her the instant she picked it up… she looked straight at us, then ran to hide. Under the coffee table. When we went to pull her out, she viciously growled and bit husband. It didn’t do much damage, but the point is, she KNEW she was in trouble, ran to hide, then reacted viciously. That is NOT COOL DOG.
Anytime she does something wrong and you tell her no, she runs off to hide where we can’t see/get to her. How do you correct this?!
I’m trying to follow a schedule for her… she’s been good about housebreaking… I try to play with her when I’m not busy, but leave her crated for the most part if I can’t pay attention to her. She goes out every hour or so, and if she doesn’t potty, I put her up or play with her for a minute, then take her back out to try again. I always give her a treat when she goes too.
I let her run around the house and play with the cat after she potties usually… throw a ball around maybe…
Despite her millions of chew toys, all she wants to chew on is our carpet, the couch, blankets, or us. And each time I correct her, she just gets snappy (literally).
Ugh, I don’t know what to do. :(

Punishment…
Gizmo doesn’t seem to understand it really… I realize that at 10 weeks old, she’s still VERY young. But she doesn’t seem to get ANY sort of punishment yet.
She likes to bite hands, and per the vet, I either grab her muzzle and clamp down, or if my finger is in her mouth, push up/down accordingly so I can get my finger back. Each time she gets a stern “NO” so that she associates the “NO” with the action…
The minute I let go, she snaps at me again… or barks… she whines like I’m hurting her…
Her doc said to start early on teaching her to be submissive, mostly by flipping her over on her back, belly up… but all the while I’m doing this, she’s biting at me, or starts whining or barking… no matter how long I do it for… once she’s riled up like that, there’s seriously no calming her down…I end up having to tell her “NO” again, and putting her in her crate to calm down, otherwise it’s hell for who knows how long…
There’s so much out there on the internetz about puppy training, but even when I do those things, they don’t seem to work on her… *sigh*

My adorable corgi baby isn’t giving me much time to myself today, so this first post will be super short… In fact, it’s just about over already!
